Last Updated on February 5, 2024 by Career Reload Team

To demonstrate that anyone (really anyone) can maintain a resume length of one page, we created custom resumes for Elon Musk, Bill Gates, and Steve Jobs. We summarized their notable skills, key career achievements, and most impressive awards on a single page.

While maintaining the highest level of accuracy possible, we also added some flair to each resume by using our free resume templates and best writing practices.

Without further delay, here’s Elon Musk’s, Bill Gates’ and Steve Jobs’ one page resumes.

Elon Musk’s Resume

Elon Musk is one of the most prominent businessmen of the twenty-first century. He is a prolific entrepreneur, philanthropist, inventor, engineer, and Twitter provocateur.

With projects ranging from solar technology to automobiles to space travel, the idea of condensing Elon’s diverse career into a single, short page appears absurd.

It is, however, possible.

Elon Musk’s resume includes his work experience past 20 years, notable achievements, key skills, education and a brief summary. See how all the work history bullet points start with an action verb. Action verbs were also embedded in the summary.

Bill Gates’ Resume

Bill Gates doesn’t really need a resume. He doesn’t need to introduce himself to anyone, let alone a recruiter, as the former CEO of Microsoft, the founder of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, and one of the world’s wealthiest people.

But… what if he does?

Consider Bill Gates’ accomplishments to see how he might write an impactful one-page resume.

Bill Gates’ resume includes all the main resume sections (summary, work experience, education, skills) but as an addition to that you can find Additional Experience section listing notable experiences briefly. You can also find a Non-Profit Experience section listing achievements in that sector.

Steve Jobs’ Resume

Among the most idealistic entrepreneurs of all time, he was one of the youngest people to appear on Forbes’ list of the richest people in the United States.

He launched and co-founded three major corporations, the most notable of which was Apple, reaching a market capitalization of one trillion USD and became the first publicly-traded company.

Listing all of Jobs’ contributions and accomplishments to the technological world in a paragraph is nearly impossible, so you’re probably thinking Jobs’ resume can’t be single page, right?

To your surprise, that is entirely possible!

It is simple to create a one-page resume if you follow these guidelines:

  • Customize your resume and cover letter to each job posting to which you apply. This means, you can cut off unrelated and outdated work experience, achievements and skills.
  • Remove any unnecessary resume sections and irrelevant facts.
  • Ensure that the required sections have enough space to demonstrate your professional accomplishments.
  • Highlight your quantifiable achievements while putting responsibilities on the back burner.
  • Use the keywords from the job listing.
  • Limit your work history to 10 to 15 years.
